Program/Project Management |
Program Management will play a critical role in ensuring that the upgrade is carried out with minimal disruption to the business.
Some of the key areas of focus and responsibility of Program Management are:
- Ensuring the upgrade is completed on time and on budget
- Dealing with Change Management issues – ensuring that top management understands and supports the upgrade and that proper change related communication is provided to the business users in a timely manner and at the appropriate times
- Ensuring that business users are freed up to participate in required training for the upgraded system and that top management is supporting this activity
- Assisting staff in managing a more complex environment – for a period of time, there will be multiple systems, all interfaced to external systems. As such, the old and the new will coexist for some time until the upgrade is completed and in production. This is a complex endeavor and care needs to be taken to ensure that there is no mix-up of production and test data
- Driving achievement of interdependent milestones
- Managing change and resolving issues
- Keeping multiple work-streams focused on the same goals
- Balancing multinational issues (language, legal, jurisdiction, culture)
- Risk mitigation
